They are both replace filters, not clean and put back in as far as I know. The big circle with lots of fins on it, that is the nut for it. I only changed them once I got a fault for them. The one in the tank is not fun to change.

You'll have some DEF run out, but only what's inside the filter housing. Unless they've changed things, there no need to replace the sock filter in the tank unless it's clogged or if you're right there anyways.
