WebIt is based off of The Sims Online. It has a super friendly community but there was way too much grinding for me and it lacked a fair amount of the charm the original The Sims had. Simitone might be more along the lines of what OP is looking for but it unfortunately isn't free. It is based on The Sims Complete Collection and requires a copy of it.
